The initial contact should only take around ten to fifteen minutes. It will give you the chance to ask questions about my approach to counselling.
We can explore any previous experience of talking therapies that you have had. We’ll also look at what has brought you to consider counselling at this time.
I’ll then share some more information about the types of counselling that I offer, and you can decide the style that best suits you.
Most importantly, it provides you with the opportunity to see if you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor.
There is no charge for this initial session.
Our First Session Together
Our counselling sessions will last for up to fifty minutes.
Our first full session will be used to establish a common understanding for our work together.
During this first session, we will also discuss our “Counselling Agreement”. This simply establishes the foundation of our relationship. It covers aspects such as confidentiality, session times and payment.
We will then agree a regular, scheduled day and time for our sessions.
At the end of our session, we will complete an initial assessment and set out your expectations and goals for counselling. This will give us a common platform for our work to begin.
What To Expect During A Session
Whether we are out walking, talking in the counselling room or chatting online, it’s important to remember that how we use the session will be entirely led by you.
What To Expect From Counselling Sessions
As a person-centred practitioner, I will provide a safe space for you to explore whatever is on your mind. My approach is based upon building a trusting, non-judgemental relationship, and I use my professional counselling skills to help you unpick whatever is going on for you. I trust in your ability as an individual to know what you want to explore and when.
As such, all sessions will be conducted at your pace.
Sessions are from £50. We can discuss payment in more details during our initial contact.
Please feel free to get in touch to find out more.
